Question about same-sex marriage in New York?

-My husband and I were married in Massachusetts in 2004, at which point we were living in Boston. We didn't have a wedding ceremony with family and friends, though. We relocated to Long Island, NY last summer, knowing that our marriage would be recognized by NY state. And now that same-sex marriage is legal here, we would like to renew our vows in time for our 7-year anniversary, so we can finally celebrate with our friends and family.

So, my question: Is it possible to obtain a marriage license and marriage certificate if we're already legally married in Massachusetts? Will it change anything, legally? We have a marriage certificate already, but it would mean a lot to have a New York marriage certificate, since this is where we plan to stay. Or will we be laughed out of the City Clerk's office?

Thanks,

Adam
