Is it worth suing my ex for child support if I think he is earning but not declaring?

-After our divorce came through, he quit his job and went on job seekers so he would only have to pay the bare minimum of 拢5 a week. It's simply not enough for three children, it doesn't even buy a pack of nappies.

I think he might be earning money but not declaring it as he is always blowing off his weekends with the kids with excuses like being on holiday or taking his daughter with his fiance to things that cost a lot. He's also getting married, and by the sounds of things it's an expensive affair, the hotel they are having the reception in is not cheap at all.

Please, don't get me wrong. I'm not bitter that he's getting married, etc. I'm just annoyed that he can't do right towards his three children with me. 拢5 doesn't provide very much for them, I just put it towards buying fruit for them for the week because it seems to be all 拢5 can get me is some grapes, two bags of apples and a melon.I don't know what it's like in the UK, but in the U.S. there is a special part of the government that helps with child support recovery and we don't have to actually sue to get help. We just ask for an investigation. I understand what you are going through, except ours is a little different. It's my husband who GETS the child support, or at least is supposed to, but my stepdaughter's "mother" doesn't pay it and/or skips from job to job just so she doesn't have to pay it. We've had her wages garnished before.. we've had her tax return garnished.. she owes my husband thousands in back-child support.

I hope you can find some way of getting the money even though it may not be a lot. If anything, it's the whole principle of the thing.

Good luck! :)you can report him for benefit fraud anonymously however you probably will need some sort of evidence.

heres the link https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/benefitfraud/
My suggestion would be to hire a private detective to gather evidence regarding his employment status and income. I don't know how much it would cost, but its not as expensive as one might think. They could probably get the evidence in like two hours as they know exactly where to look and what to look for etc. But it depends.

I disagree with the first poster about reporting him for benefit fraud. They will thank you for reporting the benefit fraud, and will prosecute him, but they won't help you with regards to child maintenance support. My approach would be to get the evidence and then take him to court. Only then report him for benefit fraud ! I have learnt from experience though never to rely on the government departments as they are absolutely useless ! If you want the money, you will have to gather the evidence and then sue him unfortunately. Hope this helps.
