-We are both 26 and have known each other since we were in high school. The reason we want to get married is because we figured out that I would pay about 1,000 dollars less in taxes and she would pay about 1,500 dollars less in taxes if we filed our state income taxes jointly as a married couple. We are not lesbian...never had sex with a woman, LOL, and have had plenty of boyfriends. It's just that her boyfriend is currently in medical school and she has a good job and I do too. We can both save money this way.
After all this excitement about marriage, and after realizing just how many benefits married people on the state level receive, we want to marry too. (only temporarily)Yes. However, understand that this person could also hurt you financially as well. Burden you with debt, ruin your credit rating, etc.
Many people are better off not married financially. This is a bad reason to marry.
That is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard! The $2,500 you both save won't be close to the legal fees once you need to divorce...
